Condition of both books is about the same: rubbing on spine; corners of boards bumped; previous owner's name on front end sheet. Text is clean and binding is tight..

John Ruskin is credited with adding a few verses to the first story by 'a Lady of Ninety'; with charming illustrations 'from the Original Wood Cuts'. Text pages lightly bent; pencil scribble inside rear, one page has a short tear, affecting the margin of one illustration, otherwise illustrations unharmed; covers creased & rubbed. 48 pages.. This is the short version, with only the quotes; there also exists a version twice the size with prose vignettes of femmes fatal; priority of issue is uncertain, but this version seems to be much scarcer.
