The first edition points: The 'A' and Scribner's Seal on the copyright page, the publisher's pale blue cloth with Hemingway's autograph stamped in blind on the cover & the spine lettered in silver, the jacket has the original price of $3.00 listed and no mention of the Pulitzer or Nobel Prize. This copy meets all those points. DJ in mylar. Moderate soiling and shelfwear to DJ, including tearing. Light to mild soiling and shelfwear to covers. Spine ends bumped, rubbed, and starting to tear. Textblock lightly soiled. A couple of tiny holes in inside hinge. Inside covers and endpapers yellowing. A few pages soiled in margin. Otherwise, pages yellowing, but clean and tight in binding.
