About the author

Roger Bridgman studied natural sciences at Cambridge University before working as a graphic designer. He then studied electronics and became a design engineer at Marconi. He was curator of communications at the Science Museum, during which he wrote DK's Eyewitness Electronics and Eyewitness Technology. The Smithsonian Institution is a center for research dedicated to public education, national service, and scholarship in the arts, sciences, and history.
