OCLC shows two holdings for documents of the Boston Selectmen for 1811 (Boston Public Library). "We the Subscribed Selectmen of the Town of Boston do approve of the following persons as Inn holders & Retailers in the said Town & we do hereby recommend them to the best of our knowledge as persons of sober Life & Conversation suitably qualified & provided for the exercise of such an employment & firmly attached to the Constitution and Laws of this Commonwealth." Among the Inn holders are Thomas Obrien on Exchange Street; William Parker on Broad Street; and Edward Savage of Boylston Hall. There are some 26 retailers listed. There is a horizontal, closed, tear across spine about two inches above foot. Cloth is a little faded over spine. Lettering and decoration on covers remains good. Text block is cracked near center, with one signature slightly sprung and two leaves just overlapping outside edge. Title page shows an inked inscription that has been heavily scribbled out, as well as another inked name and address, all in blank space around top portion of title. Date of publication on title page is underlined and there are two inked check marks next to date. Verso of title page is preface that also shows scribbled out writing in blank space. Contents show a few Xs in margins and a few underlines of entries. Despite faults, volume remains fairly tight and contents are otherwise very clean. . First Edition. Cloth - Hard Cover.
