1967. Approx. 11 3/8" H x 8" W. This calendar was an advertising piece for Moote & Hodgson Limited of Orangeville, Ontario. The binding quite cleverly consists of a piece of flexible 'gold' coloured metal, with a hole for hanging at top, which loops through all the pages of the calendar. When the 'gold' pencil that slots into the loop is removed, the pages can be taken out and re-ordered (the instructions suggest that each finished month be placed at the back of the calendar in sequence). The twelve sheets for the months each form a pocket at the bottom (for storing receipts, recipes, notes, etc.) and have a recipe illustrated with a sepiatone photograph and a menu on the front. On the reverse are additional recipes following that month's theme and a tip from Betty Baker. The calendar cover consists of a folded sheet (just over 6 1/2" H at the front) with a pasted on colour picture of a fisherman and the company details on the front. The full-sized rear section has a form for filling in the "Household Budget" on the inside (unused) and information on "Home Freezing - Fruits and Vegetables" on the reverse. The monthly recipe themes are: January - Sandwiches Supreme; February - Soup So Warm; March - Fish 'n' Things; April - Meat Miracles; May - Good ol' Cookie; June - Delectable Vegetables; July - Dessert Magic; August - Beverage Coolers; September - Countdown on Coffee Cakes; October - Thanksgiving Delights; November - Fashionable Meat Dishes; December - Salads Superb. The rear section has small creases at bottom corners, light browning at bottom rear edge, and very tiny crease at top corners. . Soft Cover. Very Good+.
