About This Item
Garden City: Doubleday & Company, Inc, 1954. First American Edition. Finney's first novel, centered around five young people with various talents who come together to perform a casino heist. Basis for the 1955 Phil Karlson film starring Guy Madison, Kim Novak, and Brian Keith, and an inspiration for 'Ocean's Eleven' and many similar caper films that would follow. A lovely copy of a cheaply-made title, one which seldom shows up in collector's condition. The Dark Page II, pp.56-57; Hubin, p.145. First Printing. Octavo (21.5cm); black cloth, with titles stamped in gilt on spine; dustjacket; 221, [3]pp. Small booksellers ticket to lower front pastedown, spine ends nudged and slightly worn, with pinpoint wear to cloth at upper corners; clean throughout, Near Fine. Dustjacket is unclipped (priced $2.95), with minute wear to base of spine, and barest hit of offset to flap corners from the tape on mylar; a bright, very Near Fine example.
