About the author

Ike Ijeh is a practising London-based architect who is an architecture critic for some of the UK's foremost architecture and construction magazines. He is also the founder of London Architecture Walks, London's original guided walks company and one specifically conceived to bring architecture to the wider general public. In 2014 he was co-author of Architecture Beyond Criticism, an academic research book providing expert evaluation of the way architecture is perceived by and presented to society. His most recent book, Designing London: A Guide to the Character of London aims to provide the first comprehensive critical analysis of London's urban character and the role architecture helps play in defining it. In 2018 Ike was named the International Building Press (IBP) Architecture Writer of the Year and he has again been nominated for the same award in 2020. In 2016 Ike was nominated for the Professional Publishers Association (PPA) Writer of the Year Award. As well as practising and writing about architecture, Ike also teaches extensively on the subject and has been a visiting lecturer to schools and universities in the UK, U.S. and Denmark. Ike is a born and bred Londoner who is passionate about his city and lives in the capital with his wife and baby son.
