A bright, crisp copy of the 1938 2nd printing, referring to "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street" on the rear flap (Younger and Hirsch, pgs. 62-64). VG- (with light scuffing and rubbing to the panels and light soiling to the text) in a bright, price-intact ("$2.95"), VG dustjacket, with light chipping at the front panel's lower corner (not affecting the text), light chipping at the spine ends and very light creasing to the panels. Quarto, wondefully illustrated thruout by the good Doctor.

Synopsis

The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins is a children's book, written by Dr. Seuss and published in 1938. Unlike the majority of Dr. Seuss's books, it is written in prose rather than rhyming and metered verse. The characters of Bartholomew and King Derwin appear again in a later book, Bartholomew and the Oobleck. Set in feudal times, the story begins in the Kingdom of Didd, when King Derwin is riding through a street past Bartholomew Cubbins, a poor boy in the market.
