About This Item
Chicago: H.W. Rokker, Publisher, 1889. Hardcover. Small 8vo. Brown blind-embossed cloth with gilt spine lettering. xv, 458pp. Tissue-guarded frontispiece, illustrations, foldout map. Very good. Spine gilt quite rubbed, with just the faintest binding edgewear -- else especially tight and nice. Handsome later printing of this text first published in 1875. The small foldout map showing the Lincoln funeral train's route is pristine. Interestingly, front flyleaf bears the fine armorial bookplate of Richard J. Oglesby (1824-99), 14th governor of Illinois (1865-69). MONAGHAN 944.
