About This Item

Baltimore, MD: Macauley & Assoc, 1992. First Edition. One of a limited and numbered boxed edition signed by the author (this coy is unnumbered). Signed and inscribed by Ray Russell on the publisher’s special label affixed to the front free endpaper to fellow writer William F. Nolan: “For Bill Nolan, Ray Russell ‘92.” With a few brief notations in pencil in Nolan’s hand. Fine copy in slipcase. The film ‘Incubus’ was written by George Franklin, directed by John Hough, and starred John Cassavetes, John Ireland, Kerrie Keane, and Helen Hughes. William F. Nolan’s work is mostly in the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres, with perhaps his best known novel being ‘Logan’s Run’ which he co-authored with George Clayton Johnson and which was the basis of the film starring Michael York and Jenny Agutter and the television series. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the 1976 horror film ‘Burnt Offerings’ starring Karen Black and Bette Davis. His biographies and collections include ‘John Huston: King Rebel’ (1965), ‘Hemingway: Last Days of the Lion’ (1974), ‘McQueen’ (1984), and ‘The Black Mask Boys’ (1985). He has received many literary awards, including ‘Living Legend in Dark Fantasy’ by the International Horror Guild in 2002, twice winner of the Edgar Allan Poe Award from the Mystery Writers of America, and in 2006, he was received the honorary title of Author Emeritus by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Inc.
