Hardback in dust wrapper (black boards with gilt titling to the spine) Physically 9½” x 6¼” (0.9 kg); 201pp; Illustrated with B&W photographs. Sir Denis Forman was born in 1917 at Craigielands in Dumfries, and was educated at Loretto and at Pembroke College, Cambridge. His memoirs describe the germination of two of his main interests: entertaining an audience and music. The first led him - after service in World War Two during which time he was wounded at Cassino - into films and television, culminating (when he was Chairman and Managing Director of Granada Television) in Coronation Street and Jewel in the Crown. The second gave rise to his only book before this one, Mozart's Piano Concertos, and to his directorship of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. About BookLovers of Bath Somerset, United Kingdom

Biblio member since 2006
Seller rating: This seller has earned a 5 of 5 Stars rating from Biblio customers.

BookLovers of Bath is set in the pastoral idyll of Peasedown St. John in Somerset (God's Own Country) in the south west of England. My wife and I owned the village Post Office until the modern world caught up with us in 2014. At that point I converted the premises to a small book shop, Fact or Fable, with a stock of around 4,000 titles in stock. I've been selling books worldwide since 1997 and rather hope to get the hang of it shortly…
