About This Item

New York: Simon and Schuster, 1987. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. First edition. Fine in a very good plus dustwrapper with some rubbing and tears at the crown. Author's complimentary card laid in. Although not indicated as such in the book, this is the copy of the author's sister Mary. Laid in is an autograph letter Signed to Mary Theroux from her brother, the author Peter Theroux asking her to participate in a game of "Trivial Adultery" that he and their other brother Paul Theroux are playing, trying to identify the sources for the various adulteries in their brother Alex's novel. In the envelope, Peter has enclosed a typed postcard Signed by Paul Theroux asking Peter to identify four different sources and questions from the book. An interesting and fun-loving connection among the members of a literary family.
