Hartford: The American Publishing Company, 1876. FIRST EDITION, second issue. RARE, printed on laid paper with wove paper endsheets. Full blue cloth with embossed gilt design on front cover and back board. Spine is missing and the book is disbound. Lacking the front free endsheets and the fly leaf. The half-title/frontispiece leaf is loose, the other pages are still attached to the stringers. Since the pagination to the front is the determining point for issue of this book, I will list the leafs as I find them: (frontis) + (title page & copyright page) + (dedication & blank) + (preface & contents) + (xii & xiii) + (Unnumbered Illustrations page & xvi) + (Unnumbered chapter title Page & pg 18). Page 19-274. Unnumbered "Conclusion" page. Small thumbing text and small closed tears to the fronts. . First Edition. Full Cloth. Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hardcover.
