Bladon. 1770. 8vo., vii + (1) + 183 + (1)pp., including the half-title, bound in late 19th century half calf over marbled boards, some wear, particularly to corners, upper joint cracked but sound. A good copy. First and only edition. * Signed at the end 'Matius', but the actual identity of the writer not known. The remarks of a Briton> concern the trial of L. Balfe and E. M'Quirk who were found guilty of the murder of George Clarke, a Wilkinite lawyer at an election riot in Brentford in December 1768. The 'Constitutional politician' refers to John Wilkes himself.

London: S. Bladon, 1770. [8], 183pp, [1]. Later half calf and marbled paper over boards, raised bands, spine in six panels, title label to second panel, date label to third, remaining panels with small fleuron in gilt to centre, t.e.g. Worn to edges, splits to upper joint, but holding well on cords. Internally lightly browned throughout, but nothing too obtrusive. The 'Constitutional Politician' is John Wilkes; 'The Remarks of a Briton' concerns the trial of L. Balfe and E. M'Quirk who were found guilty of the murder of George Clarke, a Wilkite lawyer, at an election riot in Brentford in December 1768. ESTC T86176, showing eight locations. First Edition. Hardback.
