NY: Pantheon Books, 1983. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. From the book, ""The Aftermath is the most significant, detailed, and wide-ranging scientific study yet undertaken of the possible global consequences of nuclear war. This project (based on a scenario in which less than half the nuclear weapons of the two superpowers are fired) gives us as precise an idea as humanly possible of what a post-nuclear world would be like. Some of its predictions include: 750 million immediate deaths (about half the populations of the cities attacked); a large but unknown number of additional deaths or injuries from fire and heat; 340 million seriously injured survivors, most of whom, in the absence of medical treatment, will die; about 20 percent of all other survivors so incapacitated by psychological conditions as to be unable to care for themselves or others."" Hard cover in very good condition. Text block clean and tight. Contains pictures and graphs throughout. No markings noted. Book has black boards with red lettering on front cover and along spine. Dust jacket in good condition. First American Edition
