If you know about this famous aviator, his aircraft designs, and his impact on the offensive and defensive uses of military aviation for the protection of the United States, you don't need an introduction. VICTORY THROUGH AIR POWER (originally published in 1942) are his opinions on how the USA could win (what turned out to become) WW2, through proper use of military aviation. After WW2, he went to work on AIR POWER: KEY TO SURVIVAL, originally published in 1950. In it he invokes his strongly held belief that a well organized USAF (name changed from US Army Air Corps in 1947 to USAF, the United States Air Force) bombing arm at the ready (which eventually turned out to be SAC) , would deter Soviet aggression. This was all before ICBM's came into being, which makes his viewpoints even that more interesting. His thoughts on the atomic bomb (used twice on Japan in August, 1945) , as well as his visits to Japan to see the devastation first hand, are quite unique. In relation to aviation history and how it has evolved, both his books should not be missed. ; 8.1 X 5.9 X 1.4 inches; 376 pages .
