Hutchinson, London, 1960. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Good. Light foxing and sundry marks to the edges of the text block, internally clean. Original dustwrapper is rubbed and chipped. This is the story of the Jewish people and Palestine from the end of World War II to the Suez crisis in 1956. Written by an Englishman, the observations of a developing country, are interesting. The author makes the point, that there was no culture to be developed, the Jews having at last a place where "their" culture could be expressed freely and naturally. Comment is also offered on double edged sword that were the Palestinian refugees, who both sides used for political purposes. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 208 pages.
