About This Item
This well preserved, early edition (1st?) of Paul Margueritte's, Amants, is in very good condition with some scuffs to binding, beautifully marbled end papers, an owner's bookplate on FEP and pages yellowed with age, though very much in tact and readable. The hinge is tight. According to La Revue Socialist, Vol 11, Amants is about, "... a man, a prince of authentic noble lines, an accomplished gentleman and an upper middle class woman and girl. Other than the differences in education, the nuances of good manners, the passion is always the same. The male is abusive and authoritarian, the woman is loving and painfully passive. Here the question is aggravated by an incurable illness of the lover and of the situation of the other lover, who is married. "
