He is coeditor of "World Class Worldwide: Transforming Research Universities in Asia and Latin America," also published by Johns Hopkins. Patricia J. Gumport is vice provost for graduate education and a professor of education at Stanford University and director of the Stanford Institute for Higher Education. She is editor of "Sociology of Higher Education: Contributions and Their Contexts," also published by Johns Hopkins. Robert O. Berdahl is professor emeritus of higher education at the University of Maryland and author of "British Universities and the State" and "Statewide Coordination of Higher Education."
