New York: Charles Scribner's Sons. Very Good. 1897. Hardcover. 2-volume set, first printings, bound in half red leather, marbled boards and end-papers, five raised spine-bands, top edges gilt, bright gold spine-titles and decoration, features many illustrations, including a Washington Irving frontis and a Nathaniel Hawthorne frontis, the title pages each feature a small decoration and are printed in red and black ink, Volume 1 has a fold-out chronology, there are some unopened pages in each volume, the bindings are tight and clean and the contents are pristine, some moderate edge-wear is the only remarkable flaw .
