Eide's goal was to present "a photogrraphic essay of the broad western empire described in the journals of Lewis and Clark." Towards this end, he covered some 57,000 miles over two years retracing the route of the historic expedition. 260 photographs of landscape, flora and fauna are accompanied by narratives from the original journals. Splendid journal.
