Paperback bound in white card covers with portrait of Whitman on front cover. 35 pages. Edited by Horace Traubel, with a foreword. Stated first City Lights edition, January 1970. "Walt Whitman's general thoughts and speculations on language, especially American English", compiled by his biographer Traubel from manuscript sources. "An alternative title for the notes, found on one slip of paper, is "The Primer of Words: For American Young Men and Women, For Literati, Orators, Teachers, Musicians, Judges, Presidents, &c.". No previous ownership marks. No underlining or marking to text. A hint of toning to white covers, especially at spine, else a square, clean and unmarked copy. Very good+. .
