About This Item
Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Co, 1980. first. Hardcover. VG, some slight staining of the cover.. Tan boards with brown cloth binding and black, color-illustrated dustjacket. xxvi, pp. 17-369 pp. 16 color, 33 bw repros. This landmark book has chapters on Benjamin West, John Singleton Copley, Charles Wilson Peale and Gilbert Stuart. Includes a mammoth bibliography and index at rear. This 1980 edition contains a new Introduction by the author, as well as the previous introductions, and has lengthier pagination. I am unclear as to the reason for this. The addition of 16 color plates to this edition is a benefit.
