Description

Soft cover. Very Good. Freedom Press, London, 1970; 140 x 214mm, pp 32; paper wrappers; staples rather rusted but otherwise a very good copy The cover story is a 10pp feature by Vivian Harper "Bertrand Russell and the anarchists". This draws on earlier material, including on an unsigned review in Anarchy in 1918 of Russell's book "Roads to Freedom", on his trenchant criticisms of the state socialism which had developed in Russia post-1917 and on his activities against war in general and in support of unilateral disarmament in the 1960s. Harper concludes that although Russell was not an anarchist he clearly had a leaning towards that philosophy (as he had himself acknowledged in his writing) ending by writing "For generations he has been a liberating influence". NOTE: on account of the size and weight of this item the postage cost will be LESS than the default amount (which must be) shown and will be advised before an order is confirmed.
