About This Item
Boston and New York: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1889. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. With one hundred illustrations. Rodolfo Amedeo Lanciani (1845-1929) was an Italian archaeologist, a pioneering student of ancient Roman topography, and among his many excavations was that of the House of the Vestals in the Roman Forum. Original red cloth-covered boards over a white cloth spine, with decorative gilt stamping. The rear hinge is starting. Some general fading and minor soiling along the spine, with a bit of edgewear to the boards; otherwise very good.
