Dies ist nicht eine zweisprachige Ausgabe. Text in Deutsch, nicht in Englisch. Erste Ausgabe. This is not a bilingual edition. Text in German only, not in English. Presumed first printing of the first edition. Printed and presumed bound in Austria. Foreword dated November 1926. Heavy-duty buckram binding, Oxford blue with crisp gilt-stamped lettering to the spine. Unbumped spine head and tail, with fairly sharp corners. The binding is impressively clean. 11.75 x 9.5 inches. Text block firmly bound in. 504 numbered pages. Heavy, semi-glossy coated stock. There are 586 duotone plates, several full-page. The Chapter One page with two tears repaired with transparent tape. One tear about 2 inches, the other much shorter. Else the book appears free of noticeable demerits. A clean copy, and rather tight. Respectfully read. A Very Good Plus copy. With thanks to Wikipedia for the following: Andrea Riccio is mainly known for small bronzes, often practical objects such as inkwells, door knockers or fire-dogs, exquisitely sculpted and decorated in a classicising Renaissance style. He was born at Padua, and first trained as a goldsmith by his father, Ambrogio di Cristoforo Briosco. He later began to study bronze casting under Bartolomeo Bellano, a pupil of Donatello. As an architect, he is known for the church of Santa Giustina in his native city. His masterpieces are the bronze Paschal candelabrum in the choir in Basilica of Sant' Antonio at Padua (1515), and the two bronze reliefs (1507) of David dancing before the Ark and Judith and Holofernes in the same church. His bronze and marble tomb of the physician Girolamo della Torre in the church of San Fermo at Verona was beautifully decorated with reliefs, which were taken away by the French and are now in the Louvre. His smaller, easily transportable, works appealed to collectors across Europe.

About Marc Sena Carrel
I deal principally in rare and fine books. I also sell antique prints, including Japanese ukiyo-e. I have eclectic and wide-ranging interests and my collection generally emphasizes art titles. Areas of book specialization include: Art, Architecture, Design, Antiques, Antiquities, Small Press/Fine Press. As for prints, I am chiefly interested in ukiyo-e, ornithologicals, iconography and churches. I have a small but choice selection of books and prints available for the discriminating collector/buyer. My goal is to establish and maintain a stock in trade of a few thousand fine books and a few hundred noteworthy prints.
