London: Isaac Pitman, 1947. Hb, viii + 119pp, b/w photos including frontispiece. Good in a Good(-) dj which has a small tear and edgewear top of spine. Contents clean, slight tanning to page edges. Account of the radio chess match between Great Britain and Soviet Russia held in June, 1946, with two rounds and twelve boards. In addition to the 24 annotated games, there are player biographies, essays on chess life in both countries, an account of how the match came about and of the match itself, and a theoretical review. The Soviets won decisively as expected, with Botvinnik, Keres, Smyslov, Boleslavsky, Flohr on the top five boards against Alexander, Klein, Konig, Golombek and Fairhurst. Descriptive notation.. Hard Cover. Good/Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
