About the author

Alex Schlacher is an Austrian photographer. While embedded with the U.S. Marines in Afghanistan in 2011, she had the privilege of spending some time with the Royal Gurkha Rifles. She is now in the unique position of being allowed total and unprecedented access to the Brigade of Gurkhas, and has photographed them since 2012.
