About This Item
New York: Hunt and Eaton / Cranston and Stowe, 1856. Hardcover. Very Good. Red cloth with black decorations to boards, and gilt lettering to spine. Boards lightly stained. Corners nudged. Very tightly bound. Brown endpapers, front and rear, each contain previous owner's name. 6 1/2 inches x 4 1/2 inches. Three black and white illustrations including what is listed as "illuminated title". Frontis illustrations features a bonneted Mom reading to her three toddlers. A banner atop the illustration says "Chitchat and Budget" and atop this illustration, a child angel, with wings extended. At the bottom reads: "How Beautiful is Love" One offering in the "Library for Little Lasses and Lads". The succeeding volume to be called "Archie and Nep", Nep being the large dog
