An interesting historical archive of 10 govermental reports on women in labor from 1920 through 1960, all published by the US Department of Labor Volumes are in fair to near fine condition All are ex-library from The Women's Service Library, Fawcett House, Westminster, London, with small library labels and ink withdrawn stamps on inside front wrappers, but no other markings The collection includes: 1 Bulletin of the Women's Bureau, No 12, The New Position of Women in American Industry, 1920, 158 pp, Tan wrappers, covers detached, but reattached in a basic fashion with archival tape Chipping and small closed tears at edges Text is clean and tight however Fair + condition 2 Bulletin of the Women's Bureau, No 30, The Share of Wage-Earning Women in Family Support, 1923, 170 pp Green wrappers are clean and tight with no marks or damage at all Near fine 3 Bulletin of the Women's Bureau, No 64, The Employment of Women at Night, 1923, 86 pp blue green wrappers, small residue from a past label on bottom of front cover Binding is tight and undamaged Very Good 4 Bulletin of the Women's Bureau, No 88, The Employment of Women in Slaughtering and Meat Packing, 1932, 210 pp, blue green wrappers, binding and text are clean and tight An ink presentation inscription at the top of the title page "Presented by the Viscountess Astor" The inscription appears similar to other examples of the Viscountess' signature, but it cannot be confirmed, so I am not representing it as authentic No other marks or damage at all Near fine 5 Bulletin of the Women's Bureau, No 100, The Effects on Women of Changing Conditions in the Cigar and Cigarette Industries, 1932, 187 pp Green wrappers are clean and tight with just a small tear at the base of the spine Near fine 6 Bulletin of the Women's Bureau, No 104, The Occupational Progress of Women, 1910 to 1930, 1933, 90 pp, Green wrappers, just slight corner wrinkling and soiling No other marks or damage Very good + 7 Special Bulletin of the Women's Bureau, No 18, A Preview as to Women Workers in Transition From War to Peace, 1944, 26 pp pamphlet with no wrappers Clean and unmarked and undamaged, Near fine 8 Bulletin of the Women's Bureau, No 229, Occupations for Girls and Women - Selected References, 1949, 105 pp Green printed wrappers slight soiling and edge wear Very good 9 Bulletin of the Women's Bureau, No 275, 1960 Handbook on Women Workers, 1960, 160 pp, Green printed wrappers, minor chipping and scuffing, no other marks or damage, Very good 10 Women as WorkersA Statistical Guide, [1953], 112 pp Orange wrappers with slight edge wear Very good Nancy Witcher Langhorne Astor, Viscountess Astor, CH (1879 -1964) was an American-born British politician who was the first woman seated as a Member of Parliament, serving from 1919 to 1945 various pp.
