Map illustrated end pages, both different, the front page shows The Ardennes Frontline Just before Germany 16 December 1944, and, the rear ends pages show The Ardennes Further Point of German Advance 25 December 1944. Between pages 220 & 221 there are 24 pages of black and white photographs. Black coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Photographic dustwrapper with black, gilt and dark red coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. In December 1944 Hitler launched his last offensive in the forests and gorges of the Ardennes. His aim, split the Allied forces, and, then forcing Canadians and British troops to Antwerp. The allies were taken by surprise and the battle of the Ardennes became the greatest battle of World War II in Western Europe. Minor rubbing of the backstrip edges and of the book corners.
