Inscribed on half title page: "For R__ S_____, also a Naval / compatriot, and with a great / interest in the Navy League, with / the author's compliments, / Fraser McKee / CDR". Five of these yachts served in the First World War, and their story is traced until 1946, at which point the text of the book backtracks to follow the history of the sixteen Second World War vessels. (It) tells a fascinating tale of our home coastal defences, by following the wartime exploits of the yachts and their crews (and) ends with a look at the disposal of the yachts after the two World Wars; not only those that were scrapped, but also those that went on to serve for many more years as private vessels once again." Small black ink mark on top and bottom edge of front board, minor edge rubbing, small bump at fore-edge of rear board. Dust jacket has some very light wrinkling at top edge, tiny light scuff on spine. . Inscribed By Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good.
