About This Item

Washington, D.C.: Office of the Chief of Military History, United States Army, 1969. First Printing. Hardcover. Fine. From the US Army Center of Military History:
"The Army Lineage Series is one of the oldest series of volumes published by the Center of Military History. Over time, the scope and concept of the series have evolved considerably, but the purpose has remained the same: to provide a compact, readily available source of information on unit organizational history. All lineage volumes have included illustrations and descriptions of unit insignia designed and manufactured by The Institute of Heraldry. Many volumes have included narrative essays of varying lengths discussing the evolution of the branch. Some branches/echelons have been covered in multiple volumes with the narrative published separately from the lineages. Most have also contained unit bibliographies. Because of the specialized terminology used on the certificates, most volumes also include a glossary.
Successful military organizations are solidly founded upon the pride of their members-soldiers with a strong sense of belonging to their unit and enthusiastic about its being their own. Good military leaders always strive to attain this intangible qualitygenerally known as esprit de corps. Anything that helps an army to achieve it contributes to better units.

As the authors trace the evolution of cavalry into today's armor branch, their narrative presents a broad history of the growth of the entire U.S. Army. It gives an insight into the reasoning and considerations behind most of the organizational changes the Army has undergone, lending clarity and perspective to the unit lineages that follow."

This copy is fine in blue embossed cloth with gilt titles on the spine.  No marks or damage at all.  Appears unread and could pass for new.
