Armstrong rebus bookplate. Design features four arms in armor and the Latin motto Vi et Armis (By Force and Arms.) Evidently a 19th century plate. Approx. 3.75 x 3.25 inches. Unused in clean, unmarked condition. Possibly the bookplate of the Elliott Armstrong, Esq., listed in an historical compilation of noted British book collectors (A Roll of Honour by W. Carew Hazlitt. London: Bernard Quaritch, 1908.)
