A very scarce first edition of this authoritative work on modern landscape architecture by Thomas Hayton Mawson, a renowned British garden designer, landscape architect, and town planner. Mawson was a prolific and influential landscape designer who became the first president of the Institute of Landscape Architects in 1929. Renowned for his stunning designs that blended architecture and horticulture, his prolific and successful career included commissions on Graythwaite Hall, Langdale Chase, Holehird, Brockhole, Holker Hall and at Rydal Hall. Illustrated with perspective views drawn by the renowned English landscape architect Mr C. E. Mallows, and with numerous plans, sections and details of garden by numerous other illustrators. This work also feature illustrated chapter headings designed by D. Chamberlain. Overall good condition. Publisher's original olive cloth. Spine cloth heavily worn and torn along hinges. Some stains on cloth boards. Gilt decoration to the front board and spine. Private library mark. xvii, 224pp., index. Pages clean. Full refund if not satisfied.
