About This Item

London: Macmillan, 1991. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Near Fine. 9.5" by 6.5". None. A first edition of Derek Robinson's sequel to his espionage novel 'The Eldorado Network'. This first edition of Booker prize nominated author Derek Robinson's sequel to the darkly humorous espionage novel 'The Eldorado Network', 'Artillery of Lies' continues the story of Luis Cabrillo who concocts a plan to double-cross the German Intelligence service in favour of the British during World War Two. The audacious operation of Cabrillo in these novels is inspired by the real-life figure of Juan Pujol Garcia, who was awarded both the Iron Cross for his services to Germany, and an MBE for his contribution to Britain's war effort. First edition, first printing, in dustwrapper. Sequel to 'The Eldorado Network'. An incredible story based in reality, Robinson mixes his black humour and wit into this tale of espionage and intrigue. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart, with only minor shelfwear to the head of the spine of the book, and minor handling marks and shelfwear to the head and tail of the spine and extremities of the dustwrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with some age-toning. Near Fine
