A very scarce proof copy.Letter from one of the publishers, Robin Denniston, dated 3rd May 1965, loosely inserted, "Dear Brigid, You were one of the reviewers who liked and wrote well of Jane Gaskell's earlier Atlantis book THE SERPENT. Now she has written something like a sequel, I wonder if you would be interest to read a proof of this. If not, I'd gladly send you along a finished copy as soon as one arrives. All good wishes to you and Michael, Yours Ever, Robins".Brigid Brophy was an author, polemicist, and influential campaigner, known for her work for social reform, animal rights, and humanism. Robin Denniston was a publisher who commissioned some of the most popular novels of the twentieth century, and worked closely with John Le Carre.'Atlan' is the second book by Jane Gaskell set in prehistoric South America and Atlantis, following the events of 'The Serpent'. In the original paper wraps. Externally, generally smart, with a little age-toning to the spine and extremities of the wraps, and a few very light marks. Crease to the front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good
