Signed by Julia Glass with personal inscription, dated Christmas 1950, reading in part, "may the glory of our southland follow you wherever you may god, and not fall upon you". From Dedication: "I have written this story as a memorial to those plantation days in which the lives of the Negro were so closely interwoven with the lives of "marster an' Mistis".
