Description

Australian War Memorial. Canberra. 1954 (Ist Edition). Roy8vo, XII, 294pp. Hardcover in green cloth boards in very good condition with d/w in acceptable fair condition with small tears to upper spine and rear, now protected by clear archival covering, text in very good condition throughout with age tanned paper but no prior owner annotations or internal damage. This is the entire story of Australia's part in the Korean War told mostly by the men who served either as combatants or war correspondents. The Australian battalions, ships and air squadrons in Korea were actually part of a United Nations Command so consequently , the story of Australia's contribution to this international effort is, in effect, a short history of the Korean War. There are illustrated endpapers, a colour frontispiece, 133 b/w photographs (10 full-page) and 6 maps in this essential record of "the forgotten war" for any historian.
