A number of the pages are totally loose, but they all appear to all be there (including Lincoln's Gettysburg Address). A couple of the pages are burnt from old leaves pressed between. Faint inscription on the fep is dated 1864. The first few pages are soiled at the edges, and the endpapers are tattered. Yes, it sounds pretty bad, but it is a good candidate for rebinding. ; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 201 pages .

Bliss and John P. Kennedy wanted to raise money to benefit the Baltimore Sanitary Fair, an organization which aided wounded soldiers and their families, so they came up with the idea for this book. They solicited manuscripts from major American authors (or their heirs) and made lithographic copies which are contained in this title (ninety-two in all). Most importantly, Bliss' step-father had asked President Lincoln for a manuscript copy of the Gettysburg Address, which Lincoln wrote out and sent to him. The form…
