A.L.S. 8vo. 2 pages, New Rochelle, January 18, 1900, written at the height of influence of The New Rochelle Artists' Colony, whereby Kemble receives a referral for a commission from his friend and neighbor Frederic Remington, in part: "... Mr. Remington has given me your order and asked me to attend to it as it is not in his line and it happens to be just the material I am getting into shape for a series of illustrations to "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." I could make the picture the size you mentioned - provided you do not use it for publication - for seventy-five dollars." Fine condition.<br/> <br/> American illustrator best known for illustrating the first edition of 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn'. *In 1890 Remington and his wife moved to New Rochelle in order to have both more living space and extensive studio facilities. Soon thereafter, an artists' colony developed in the town and the Remingtons counted among their neighbors Julian Hawthorne, Edward Kemble, and Augustus Thomas.<br/> <br/>
