London: William Heinemann, 1911. First edition, Danielson's first issue; Gilcher's [presumed] second issue (with extra advertisement leaf following front free endpaper). pp. iv, 368. Cloth small cameo photograph (from newspaper) of George Moore affixed to second flyleaf, else a fine copy. Very early inscription in the first volume of Moore's noted "Hale and Farewell!" trilogy. First edition, Danielson's first issue; Gilcher's [presumed] second issue (with extra advertisement leaf following front free endpaper). pp. iv, 368. An important inscription, in that the bibliographer (Gilcher) explicitly states that he was unable to locate a presentation copy with this extra leaf of ads, noting: "Listed by Danielson as being the first issue, but none of the presentation copies seen have this additional leaf..."; this inscription seems to contradict Gilcher's conclusion above bibliographical priority. Gilcher A31.I-a; the first book in the 'Hail and Farewell!' trilogy
