Very Fine/Fine. 8vo, brown leather spine over maroon cloth with gold lettering on spine and front cover, lettered dust jacket (un-clipped) with decorative device and title on cover, [vi] + 65 pages. Added: slipcase with natural calf spine & gold lettering plus folding cloth panels. Edwin Arlington Robinson (1869 - 1935) was an American poet who won three Pulitzer Prizes for his work, and was nomin"ated for the Nobel Prize in Literature four times. AVON'S HARVEST is a long narrative poem--"a tragic novel in verse--which tells the story of how a man's life was destroyed by fear caused by an unreasoning hatred he formed as a youth.<br/> <br/> We quote the opening stanza:<br/> <br/> Fear, like a living fire that only death <br/> Might one day cool, had now in Avon's eyes <br/> Been witness for so long of an invasion <br/> That made of a gay friend whom we had known <br/> Almost a memory, wore no other n<br/> ame<br/> As yet for us than fear.<br/> <br/> SCARCE & in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION: also a Superior folding slipcase.<br/> <br/> Condition: Tight, remarkably bright and clean copy with a comparable FINE dust jacket. VERY slight toning to edges of dj. Slight discoloration to leather spine on slipcase.
