Hardcover. xv+ 764 pp. A tight, very good copy, bit of fade to the edges of the cloth covers and foot of the spine; this being a wartime publication, there is the usual embrowning to the text. In the original dust jacket, very good with modest rubbing to the spine folds and narrow wear to the head edge of the spine. Collection of short stories, many by prominent authors such as Hemingway ("The Doctor and The Doctor's Wife"), Alexander Woollcott, D.H. lawrence (" Jimmy and The Desperate Woman" and "The Shadow In The Rose Garden"), Neruda ("The Vampire"), GBS, Huxley, anatole France, Turgenev, Powys, and many more.
