About This Item

London England: John Lane the Bodley Head, 1940. Hardback. First Edition. The Battle of France. Slight wear to corners. Slight wear to top and bottom edge of spine. Couple of slight marks to cloth. Rolled spine. Red cloth with blue lettering. Author's Preface: This is a strangely built book. The first part - 'Pictures of the British Armies' - might be called: 'Fool's Paradise, or the War without a War'. It is made up of sketches of the B.E.F. which were published in Paris each week from the beginning of November. The second part of this book is a diary of the Thirty Days' War. Most of it was written, not for publication, but for myself. It is not perhaps the whole truth, but all of it is true - too terribly true. Illustrated. 210 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions, Reference books ,and all types of Academic Literature.). First Edition. Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Tall Octavo. Hardback.
