Blue cloth covered boards with gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Blind stamped title and decoration on front cover. Significant fading to spine with slight soiling and light bumping to ends of spine and corners. Darkening due to dust to top outer edge of text block with bottom edge untrimmed. Slight scattered foxing to outer edges, front endpapers and first few pages. Text block is generally clean and bright. A very nice copy. very good Well's Society # 57. "Dedicated to 'the real Lord Chancellor who... Reads Hegel'- namely Haldane- to be contrasted with the fictitious Lord Chancellor in the story who also, by coincidence, reads Hegel. This novel tells of a servant-boy who confesses to committing burglary and escapes to find happiness in the life of a gipsy". 1915
