Burnt orange coloured cloth covered boards with black coloured titles to the back strip. A novel set in the then mysterious land of Russia. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges with rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. Some stains and rubs to the book panels with the back strip being slightly faded. Uniform tanning of the text block edges and pages. Previous owners name to the top right-hand corner of the free front end page and this binding somewhat cocked. This is the first Australian edition.
