Description

Washington, D.C: Smithsonian Institution Press, 1982. Soft Cover. Very Good. 144x8x180. Typed letter from Bellanca laid in. Rear wrapper lightly rubbed. 1982 Soft Cover. 95 pp. "The Bellanca C.F. marked the emergence of the first successful line of cabin monoplanes in the United States. Designed and built by Giuseppe M. Bellanca, it led directly to the famous Bellancas that spanned the globe and significantly advanced commercial aviation. The C.F. was the most efficient airplane in existence at the time of its first flight in 1922, and it quickly attained an unbroken record of first-place wins at major air meets. Despite its lack of commercial success (only one prototype was built), the C.F.'s advanced configuration and amazing performance have assured it an important place in aviation history.
