About the author

Brian Garvey was educated at the Universities of Oxford and London and obtained his Ph.D. in 1974. He has taught in mission education in Northern Zambia and at the University of Zambia in Lusaka, and currently teaches in the School of Education and in the Centre for Development Studies of the University of Leeds.
