Rider Haggard, with illustrations throughout. First edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and fifteen plates. Collated complete. The romantic adventure of Benita, a clairvoyant, as she assists in the hunt for a lost Portuguese treasure buried in the Transvaal. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. Illustrated by Gordon Browne, an English artist and a prolific illustrator. With eight pages of 'New Fiction' advertisements followed by eight leaves of publishers catalogue, both dated 7.06, as called for. In the original full red cloth binding. Externally, smart with minor rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting, predominantly to the first and last few pages. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Very Good
